Hi Danique,

In a between-subjects design, you may have difficulties controlling all individual differences and environmental factors that can affect the outcomes. Additionally, using 12 groups in one experiment may lead to a Type I error, because the more comparisons you do, the more likely you are to find a statistically significant result. I’d suggest consulting with a supervisor to discuss your research design.

I hope that helps answer your question!

I want to do an experimental research with a between-subjects design and I have 12 conditions. Is this normal or too much? Should I split it up in multiple studies? It really is best to keep it in one if that’s possible.

Would love to hear your advice, thanks!
