Just hitting enter once and indenting the new paragraph is enough; there shouldn’t be a blank line in between.

what about multiple paragraphs? is it just one paragraph then indent for the next, or are you supposed to press enter twice to create a break in between paragraphs?

Hi Dawn,

Ideally, if the journal is quoting another source, you should find the original source and cite it directly. If you can’t access the original source or if there is no original source (e.g., the journal is just quoting a research participant or interviewee), just make clear in your sentence who is being quoted and use the term “qtd. in” (short for “quoted in”) in your citation:

John Smith states that “…” (qtd. in Jones 283).

I am trying to find out how to cite a quote from a research journal. If the research journal is quoting someone, how do I cite that quote in my own paper?

what if we have cited our own content in our essay?
are we need to mention anything along with that quote or line in the paragraph?
