No, this information should not be added for citations of journal articles. You don’t give the city of publication for sources in the 7th edition, and the publisher’s name is only needed for books.

Hi Alžběta,

It’s standard to include the names of all authors (or up to 20, at least) in your reference entry, so it would be best to double-check whether the names of the other authors are given anywhere in the book, and include them if possible.

If they’re really not listed anywhere, then using “et al.” seems like the best option. In that case, there should indeed be a comma before “et al.”

Your articles are super helpful, I just haven’t been able to find the answer to quite a frequent problem (with some of the Czech books, at least). There are books that only mention one author and add “et al.”, or “a kol.” in Czech. E.g. the book says: Základy marketingu by Miroslav Karlíček a kol. = The Basics of Marketing by Miroslav Karlíček et al.
Should the reference list include that abbreviation? That is, should I use (a) Karlíček, M. (2018), or (b) Karlíček, M., et al. (2018)? And if (b), should there be a comma before et?

Hi Sophia,

Good question. In both cases, you do not capitalize the word after the slash or hyphen. So you should write “Racial/ethnic” and “Cost-effectiveness” in your examples.

When making sure not to have all caps in the title, I am wondering about when a forward slash or dash appears in the first two words. Do we only keep the first letter of the first word capitalized, then make the first letter of the second word lowercase, or do we keep both first letters in caps? In the first example below, I made the (e) in ethnic as a lower case. In the second example below, I made the (E) in Effectiveness an upper case. Which is correct?

When referencing a report prepared by a second party for a government agency, do you italicize the report’s title? Here is the specific case:

Crosby, O. A., & Klausing, R. L. (1984). Hydrology of Area 47, Northern Great Plains and Rocky Mountain Coal Provinces, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana. United States Department of the Interior Geological Survey.

I couldn’t find this in all your examples. Thank you!
